Sport Day with Michael Churm

31st January 2018

Last Wednesday we had our hugely successful sport for schools day. We were extremely lucky to have the privilege of Paralympic sprinter, Michael Churm visiting our school and coaching the children through their circuit training. The children showed great determination, passion and self-belief and it was so lovely to see the children cheering each other on. After the circuits were complete, the school gathered together for an inspirational assembly where Michael told us his story and what inspired him. This was followed by a question and answer session where the children asked some great questions such as ‘what sort of music do you listen to before a race?’ and ‘who inspired you to get into running?’

The hall was booming all day, and after chatting to several children from different year groups, many children left feeling extremely inspired and excited about sport.

The day also wouldn’t have run smoothly without our wonderful sports council who really showed their ability to be leaders.

Well done St Hugh’s! Thank you to all friends and families who sponsored the children in their circuits… we are excited to be able to buy lots of new sports equipment for the school.
