Trafford's executive chef works with suppliers to ensure your child has access to a varied selection of fresh fruit, vegetables and salad items. If your child has specific dietary requirements, please contact us to discuss this or any other questions you may have regarding school meals.

School dinners cost £3.00 per day (£15.00 per week) and are payable in advance each half-term. The amount due for the following half-term will be published in the last Newsletter before each school holiday.  All payments for school meals to be made using ParentPay.  Should you wish for your child/children to start having school dinners you must ensure that your child's ParentPay account is in credit by at least £15.00 at all times. Failure to do so could result in the school not being able to offer your child school dinners. Please advise the office in writing with one weeks notice should your child wish to change from School Meals.

Universal Free School Meals are available for all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, although you may opt to send in a packed lunch instead.  In some circumstances children in the juniors may also qualify for free school meals. To find more information regarding this please read the FSM link below.

Payment to be made via Parent Pay only and should be credited in advance of meals being taken. If your child misses a school meal (for example, if they are absent from school due to sickness, or away on a school trip) then you will receive a credit, which can then be deducted from your next payment.

Our menus are planned in accordance with the school food trusts food based standards, we will advise when we switch between the Summer and Winter menu on the Newsletter:

From September 2026, free school meal eligibility is expanding. All children in households receiving Universal Credit will be entitled to free school meals.

We strongly encourage all families in receipt of Universal Credit to apply – even if your income has increased, your child may now qualify.

Applying is quick and easy via the Online FSM Application (OFSM).

End of Transitional Protection

Temporary protections, which allowed children to continue receiving free school meals without rechecking eligibility, will end at the close of the 2025–2026 academic year.

From September 2026, all families will need to meet the current eligibility criteria to continue receiving free school meals.

Families who are currently receiving free school meals do not need to take any action at this stage. Eligibility will be automatically rechecked, and schools will confirm eligibility from September 2026.
